AI canvas experiments
In 2024 I asked language models to draw in code. Each piece below is the model’s own HTML canvas script, written from a one-line prompt and kept as it came back, rough edges included. Two years on, it is a useful record of where the models were.
Each animation runs in a sandbox and starts only when you press Run.
One prompt at a time
A single conversation that starts with a waving stick figure and escalates, prompt by prompt, to pong at sunset and a Christmas snow globe.
Let’s do an animation of a stick human figure waving?
can you have the stick figure walk across the canvas?
Can you try to image a bird flapping it’s wings?
how about a business graph animation, say like a bar chart that constantly is moving up and down in various colors.
can you make a car driving against a city skyline?
Can you create a rudimentary game of pong and have the canvas display a demo game in full color – styled like a desert sunset?Click the game, then W and S or the arrow keys
Can you make a pixel art character that looks like a cowboy smiling and animate a wink?
what can you come up to impress me with your ability in a canvas animation?Move the mouse
let’s imagine a word cloud of very positive feedback, I want to animate the word cloud in rainbow colors.
I want to imagine a countdown clock to christmas of the current year in a snowglobe with snow falling.
